Bellum.io is a multiplayer real-time strategy (RTS) clicker game that combines the expansion mechanics of Risk with the addictive growth of incremental idle games. In each 30-minute round, you start as a single territory on a vast grid of hexagons. Your objective is simple but challenging: build a powerful economy, recruit armies, capture neighboring tiles, and claim as many Starbases as possible before the timer runs out.

At the heart of the gameplay is Military Power (MP). You start by clicking the central button to manually generate MP, which you then spend to claim adjacent tiles or purchase automated units like Soldiers, Recruiters, and Factories. These units generate Military Power per Second (MPS), shifting your focus from frantic clicking to high-level strategic decisions. As you grow, you must defend your borders, forge temporary alliances with neighboring players, and strategically decide when to launch full-scale invasions of rival bases.

Controls

Bellum.io is played entirely using the mouse (or touchscreen taps on mobile devices), making it easy to learn but deep in strategy.

Left Click (or Tap): Click the center “+1” button to generate Military Power manually.
Select Upgrades: Click on units (Soldiers, Recruiters, Factories, Airports) in the shop panel to purchase them and increase your MPS.
Claim Territory: Click on adjacent, unoccupied hexagonal tiles to capture them using your accumulated Military Power.
Diplomacy: Click on a rival player’s username or territory to send alliance requests or coordinates for coordinated attacks.

Tips that actually help

Prioritize Economy Early: Do not rush to attack other players immediately. In the first few minutes, spend your Military Power buying Recruiters and Factories to secure a high MPS. An automated economy will easily outpace manual clicking.
Secure Starbases: Starbases are the most critical tiles on the board because they increase your maximum unit cap for all military assets. Capture nearby Starbases early so your production doesn’t hit a bottleneck.
Defend Your Borders: When expanding, remember that outer tiles are vulnerable. Spend MP on defensive structures to protect your perimeter, especially along borders shared with highly active opponents.
Use Alliances to Survive: Wars are incredibly costly in Bellum.io. Form alliances with nearby players to establish non-aggression zones, allowing both of you to expand outward and build up strength before the final confrontation.
