Solitaire
Solitaire is the classic single-player card game of patience and careful planning. You start with a shuffled deck dealt into seven columns, with only the top cards face-up. Your goal is to sort the entire deck into four foundation piles—one for each suit—stacking them in order from Ace up to King.
To get there, you rearrange the cards in the main play area by building downward in descending rank and alternating colors (like placing a black eight on a red nine). This lets you uncover the face-down cards underneath. When you run out of moves, you draw from the remaining stockpile to find the cards you need to keep the chains going. The game runs entirely in your browser with nothing to install.
Controls
- Mouse: Click and drag to move cards. You can also double-click a card to automatically send it to a foundation pile if it fits.
- Touchscreen: Tap and drag cards, or simply tap a card to auto-move it to an available spot.
Tips that actually help
- Expose hidden cards first: If you have a choice between moving a card from the stockpile or moving a card from the columns to uncover a face-down card, always uncover the face-down card.
- Hold off on moving cards to foundations early on: Sometimes leaving a low card in the play area is necessary to hold a sequence of alternating colors. Only move cards to the top piles when you are sure you won’t need them to build a stack below.
- Don’t empty a column without a King: An empty space in the columns can only be filled by a King. If you don’t have a King ready to move, there’s no immediate benefit to emptying a slot.
