Duo Vikings
Duo Vikings is a cooperative puzzle-platformer where you guide two distinct characters through a series of increasingly complicated castle rooms. One viking is large and carries a sturdy shield to block hazards, while the other is small and wields a hammer to smash through obstacles. Neither character can reach the exit door alone, meaning every level is a test of coordination and sequencing as you figure out who needs to go where to open the path forward.
You can share a keyboard with a friend for a true co-op experience, or take on the challenge solo by controlling both characters yourself. A typical run involves holding down floor switches to keep doors open, riding elevators, and tossing the smaller viking over gaps using the larger viking’s shield. The game runs directly in your browser with nothing to install, making it easy to jump straight into the puzzles.
Controls
The game is designed for keyboard play. When playing with two people, you will share the keyboard.
- Large Viking: Use A and D to move, W to jump, and S to use the shield.
- Small Viking: Use the Left and Right Arrows to move, the Up Arrow to jump, and the Down Arrow to swing the hammer.
Tips that actually help
- Order of operations: Take a few seconds to look at the whole room before moving. Often, a switch needs to be hit by the small viking to let the large viking pass, who then holds down a pressure plate for the small viking to continue.
- Use the shield as a step: The large viking’s shield isn’t just for blocking arrows. You can jump onto it with the smaller viking to reach higher platforms that are otherwise inaccessible.
- Look for cracked blocks: Only the small viking’s hammer can break through the cracked stone walls. Don’t waste time trying to force the large viking through these areas.
Duo Vikings is perfect for players who enjoy games like Fireboy and Watergirl, offering a great mix of light platforming and logic puzzles that heavily reward patience and teamwork.
