Google Minesweeper brings the classic logic puzzle directly to your browser with a clean, modern interface. The premise remains the same as the beloved original: you are presented with a grid of hidden tiles, and your goal is to uncover all the safe squares without detonating any hidden mines. It is a pure test of deduction and careful clicking.

Every session starts with a blind click, opening up a safe zone and revealing numbers that indicate how many mines are adjacent to each square. From there, you must use these numeric clues to logically determine which neighboring tiles are safe to clear and which hide explosives. One wrong move ends the round, making every decision a high-stakes calculation as the board slowly reveals itself.

Controls

  • Left Click: Reveal a square.
  • Right Click: Place a flag to mark a suspected mine.
  • Click on a Number (or Left + Right Click): Quick-reveal adjacent squares if all nearby mines are correctly flagged (chording).

Tips for Winning

  • Start with the corners or edges: It often provides a better chance of opening up a large safe area right away.
  • Look for the 1s: If a “1” is touching only one covered square, that square is guaranteed to be a mine. Flag it immediately.
  • The 1-2 pattern: When you see a 1 next to a 2 against a flat wall of covered squares, the square adjacent to the 2 (away from the 1) is always a mine.
  • Use chording: Once you have flagged all the mines around a specific number, click the number itself to instantly reveal all other surrounding squares. This saves time and clicks.
