Fireboy and Watergirl 3: In the Ice Temple brings the classic cooperative puzzle-platforming duo to a freezing new environment. You control both characters—either alone by juggling both sides of the keyboard or by sharing the keyboard with a friend. The goal remains the same: guide both elemental heroes safely to their respective exit doors while collecting diamonds along the way, without letting them fall into the wrong puddles or deadly green acid.
The ice mechanics drastically change how the two characters move. Fireboy slides quickly across snow and ice and cannot jump while on it, requiring careful momentum to avoid slipping into danger. Watergirl, on the other hand, is slowed down by the frost but can still jump normally. This asymmetry forces you to rethink even simple platforming sections, relying on switches, light beams, and clever positioning to navigate through the temple’s frozen halls.

- Use Fireboy’s momentum: Because Fireboy slides quickly on ice and cannot jump on it, use his speed to launch off ramps or slide under closing doors before they shut.
- Lead with Watergirl on ice: Watergirl’s slower movement on ice gives you more control. Use her to safely hit switches on icy platforms where Fireboy might slide off.
- Check puddle colors carefully: Fireboy can walk through red lava but dies in blue water. Watergirl can walk through blue water but dies in red lava. Both die instantly in green slime.
