Basketball Legends is a fast-paced, 2D arcade basketball game where you hit the court as bobblehead versions of famous basketball stars. Playable solo against the AI or locally with a friend, the game strips away complex simulations in favor of quick matches, huge dunks, and chaotic steals. It’s an easy-to-learn game that still leaves plenty of room for skill and timing.
In each match, your goal is simple: outscore your opponent before the clock runs out. You can jump to block shots, swipe the ball from their hands, and charge up a devastating Super Shot that practically guarantees a basket if timed right. With responsive controls and a fun cartoon style, it’s one of the best ways to settle a quick rivalry on the same keyboard.
Controls
The game supports both 1-player and 2-player modes. Here is the default keyboard mapping:
- 1-Player Mode: Use the Arrow Keys to move and jump. Press Z to shoot or block, X to steal or pump fake, and the Spacebar to unleash your Super Shot.
- 2-Player Mode (Player 1): Use W, A, S, D to move. Press B to shoot or block, and V to steal or pump fake.
- 2-Player Mode (Player 2): Use the Arrow Keys to move. Press L to shoot or block, and K to steal or pump fake.
Tips that actually help
- Save your Super Shot: Don’t waste your charged Super Shot when you have an open lane to the basket. Save it for when the opponent is playing tight defense, as the animation makes the shot nearly impossible to block.
- Time your jumps: On defense, avoid mashing the block button. Wait until your opponent leaves the ground for a jump shot, then jump to swat the ball away.
- Use the pump fake: A quick pump fake can trick your opponent into jumping early. Once they are in the air, simply drive past them for an easy dunk.
