Fireboy and Watergirl
Fireboy and Watergirl is a cooperative puzzle platformer that demands real teamwork. You and a friend (or just you, controlling both characters at once) navigate through the elemental temples filled with switches, see-saws, and deadly pits. The challenge isn’t just platforming, but figuring out the correct sequence of actions to safely get both characters to their exit doors.
The game relies heavily on their opposing elements. Fireboy can safely walk through lava pits but is instantly vaporized by pools of water. Watergirl can wade through water but turns to steam if she touches lava. Both characters will die if they step into the pools of green slime. This means you must constantly communicate and rely on each other—often holding down a switch to let one character pass so they can unlock the path for the other.

Fireboy:
- Arrow Keys: Move left, right, and jump.
Watergirl:
- W, A, S, D: Move left, right, and jump.
Tips that actually help
- Don’t get greedy with diamonds: While collecting the red and blue diamonds improves your end-of-level grade, they are strictly optional. Focus on solving the puzzle and surviving first.
- Play solo for a different challenge: Though designed for two players sharing a keyboard, playing by yourself by controlling Fireboy with your right hand and Watergirl with your left turns it into a fantastic brain-bending dexterity test.
- Watch out for momentum: Characters have a slightly floaty jump and preserve momentum. Be extra careful when jumping over pits right next to the edges.
