Bloxorz
Bloxorz is a classic spatial puzzle game where you flip a 1×2 rectangular block across a floating grid of tiles to drop it into a square hole. It sounds simple, but the geometry of the block means you have to plan your path carefully. Every move rolls the block end-over-end or side-to-side, changing whether it takes up one tile or two, and figuring out how to orient it correctly to slide into the goal without falling off the edge is the core of the challenge.
As you progress through the 33 stages, the architecture becomes much more complex. You’ll encounter fragile orange tiles that can’t support the block if it stands upright, switches that toggle bridges, and eventually, tiles that split your block into two smaller cubes you must control independently. It’s a quiet, thoughtful game that rewards patience and thinking a few steps ahead.
Controls
- Arrow Keys: Roll and flip the block in four directions.
- Spacebar: Switch between the two smaller blocks (only appears in later levels when your block gets split).
Tips for Bloxorz
- Understand the switches: Soft circular switches are triggered no matter how the block touches them. Heavy “X” switches only activate if your block stands perfectly upright on them.
- Mind the orange tiles: These are fragile. If you stand your block on its end on an orange tile, it will fall through the floor and you’ll have to restart the level. You can only roll flat across them.
- Save your passcodes: After you beat a stage, the game gives you a 6-digit passcode in the top right. Write these down! If you close your browser, you can type the code on the main menu to jump right back to where you were.
